Ooops :). I am trying to get it to run under some kind of UNIX; Linux
is what I have in mind. I downloaded the Linux executables, and they
require graphics functionality to run.
I don't know what the DOS version does; I know the Windows/OS/2 versions
don't have a problem with this, since if Windows or OS/2 is present, then
graphics functionality is also present. It's running Icon on an OS where
graphics is not a part of the OS which presents a problem.
Someone suggested that I should get Icon version 8 for UNIX. I don't know
where I should look for version 8; it's not on the FTP site. I think
that maybe the Griswolds have decided that nearly everyone has graphics
capacity, and there's no point in cluttering the FTP site with things
that nearly no one will use. They do include non-graphic versions of Icon
for some other platforms, though, where presumably anyone using such a
platforms will not have graphics. MVS, for example. :)
They're probably right. I just wish I wasn't nearly no one. :)
I'm receiving my third helpful message now... let's see what it says.
Oh, it says the DOS/Windows versions run fine without graphics. :)
Peace
Kragen
